Water Management System and Role of Iron Removal Filter

In India there’s a huge population who live in cities and this count is expected to get double in the coming years. With the fast lifestyle, the pressure on water resources is also increasing. The government has shown interest in Integrated Urban Water Management to put a step forward towards development.
Water Management System

Most cities are under extreme pressure due to deficiency in water supply. According to Ministry of Urban Development, 182 cities require an immediate attention in terms of water and wastewater management. The situation is same with Bhubaneswar. Along with other water problems, the city suffers from high concentration of iron in drinking water. Iron gets dissolved in water very easily, but when the percentage increases it creates problems. Iron in water can create stains on utensils, sinks and clothes. It has really become a matter of concern for the citizens. Iron removal filters in Bhubaneswar has become extremely popular and getting sold rapidly. These filters are quality tested and are made up of stainless steel. Many of these filters are installed in municipality water supply, chemical plant, pharmaceutical industry and many more.

Depending on the iron and manganese concentration these iron removal plants can base on different filtration media. The MnO2 layer in the sand bed of these filters will catalyze the oxidation of residual iron and then the backwash is done by water and air. These filters are efficient in solid removal and they ensure processing stability. It has mandate to adapt to water treatment plant process because of rise in contamination.

In India, reform is badly needed. It will reduce groundwater exploitation and maintain the water plants so that in the near future people do not the taste of metal in their water. The good news is that there is strong political will in the country to improve water management. Already the government has initiated a few programes, like 100 smart cities, the National Mission to Clean Ganga and the Total Sanitation Programe.
